Let’s Kill Hitler, the lost script
Amy Pond: Okay, you’ve had all summer. Did you find her? Did you find Melody?
The Doctor: You know who she grows up to be, so you know I will find her.
[The Doctor hugs Amy. Amy pushes him away and slaps him in the ear.]
Amy Pond: Seriously? Is that the best you got? You show up here after an entire summer when you actually have a time machine, and tell me to wait some more? Well, I’ve had it with waiting. Do you know how much shit I’ve been through this year because of you? Did you notice I was abducted and kept in a tube while you knew about it the entire time and never said a word to me? Followed by suddenly discovering I had to give birth to a baby I didn’t even know I was pregnant with? By myself? And then I had to wait an entire month while knowing my daughter wasn’t safe and that there was nothing I could do about it? And then I saw my own baby melt in my arms? And then I found out she grows up to be an awesome lady with great hair but who is also in prison and has one of the most reckless behaviors I’ve ever seen? And that’s suppose to make me feel better?
[Rory tries to hug Amy.]
Rory Williams: Amy, it’s not the Doctor’s fault that…
Amy Pond: And you, just shut up. And stop telling me who I can hug, I hug whoever I want. In fact, I think I’m going to take this motorcycle and go find my daughter on my own. And hug everyone I meet in the meantime. You two can get in the TARDIS and go kill Hitler or something.
[Amy drives away. End credits.]
Who here watches Grey’s Anatomy? Remember the season George died? He spent the entire season with less and less screentime, while everyone complained and there were all those rumors about TR Knight being on bad terms with the writers and bla bla. Shonda Rhimes (the head writer) didn’t comment on any of it. She just kept reducing his role to minimal plotlines to the point there were entire episodes with almost no significant George at all.
Then at the season finale, he’s supposed to be leaving the hospital to enlist the army, and everyone thought he would leave the show that way (there were already talks of that). We were much more concerned for Izzie’s life, because she was also rumored to be leaving the show and her character had super-duper dangerous cancer. But anyway. The episode goes on as always, with barely any George, and plenty of random patients, and Izzie having life-risking surgery or something. One of the patients is a man who’s face is all transfigured and he can’t talk, so he’s treated like a John Doe. Almost at the end of the show, we discover John Doe is actually George. The scene where everyone in the hospital finds that out is heartbreaking. Him and Izzie both finish the season in life-threatening situations, and we all cry like babies, because it’s Grey’s Anatomy.
After the episode aired, Shonda Rhimes commented for the first time on George’s storyline on the Grey’s writer’s blog. She said she had to limit George’s role in the season so that when the last episode aired we wouldn’t notice he was gone for most of the time, and we would have the full impact of finding out he was John Doe. (She’s known for planning her season based on the finale) Maybe not everyone fell for it, but I did. And her plot device worked perfectly well for me. I was so worried about Izzie and whatever else was happening during the finale that I didn’t even thought to look for George, because he was never there anyway. But he was there the whole time.
So this is the kind of plot device that I think Moffat is using on Rory’s character and all the dying. I don’t know what it will lead to, and I certainly don’t want him to die for good, but there is a reason he wants us to see Rory die or at least be in mortal danger every week. (I for once didn’t even notice he had actually ~died this last episode until after I was done with it. Whatever this plot device wants do to, it seems to be working). That’s also why it’s so annoying to see 340532347024 posts about how Moffat should keep his hands off him every saturday.

People need to stop ranting about how annoying it is for Rory to die all the time. And start asking themselves why the writing is interested in making a point of saying that his character can die. Or that he can come back. But mostly, that he’s not out of bounds and he can get hurt.

theawesomepimp asked: Rory :3
How I FEEEEEL about this character: Oh.. Rory. He seems to have turned into a pretty controversial topic of fandom these past few days. As for that, I’ll say this: I think some people are too harsh on him, although I know where they’re coming from. But at the same time I can’t bring myself to agree that he’s under-appreciated and that liking him is an ~unpopular opinion, because it’s really not. There are plenty of Rory fans out there, and even the majority of people who dislike Moffat’s era and characters like him, and acting like it’s otherwise is a little annoying. So that’s my two cents on this matter.
But Rory. I love him. I really do. Whenever I pull a Ted Mosby and say I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS TARDIS, I’m being terribly serious. I like all of his dorky, shy and awkward exterior, but mostly I love this deeper side of him that I think we got to see so well in series 5. He’s loyal, he’s smart, and he cares so much. No wonder he’s a nurse. He loves Amy to the point that he learns to trust and respect this stranger who fell from the sky the day before his wedding and took his fiancé away. He makes an effort for her and he realizes the Doctor really is all the incredible things she always said he was and they decide to share that. Sure, he can be a little over protective of her, but I see that as a consequence of his love and care, not just for her but for most things in his life (and to an extent, a character flaw).
So this man, who is about to get married, learns that his fiancé went to space with another man she was always a little obsessed about, but then he goes with them and he sees for himself how amazing it all is and he understands how she could choose that over him. I think it’s pretty interesting that in Vampires of Venice he waits for her to “let” him stay with them. Because that’s her world, and he respects that. And she invites him in but she’s still unsure, and he stands by her because he knows her and he knows she needs time. Even though the whole time he was terrified of losing her. And after she finally comes around and realizes she needs him in her life too, Rory takes a bullet for the man that came in his life and basically turned it upside down. But he does that because he also understands the Doctor, and knows that he’s the man you’d give your life for because he’s so amazing and important. I think that’s the moment he earns that place in the TARDIS.
And then, well, he comes back and waits 2000 years just to keep Amy safe and on series 6 he shows the Doctor so much respect by suggesting a proper funeral, and convincing Amy that whatever mission the Doctor has left them matters to them, because it mattered to him. I absolutely love that line. I think it summons this character perfectly: he’s loyal and respectful of the Doctor and the amazing things he’s capable of, and he’s grounded to remember that when times are difficult.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: I totally buy the epic love story with him and Amy, because I think they’re just a regular couple who had to go through and overcome extraordinary things, and that’s what makes them essential for each other. I honestly think that if the Doctor didn’t come around they could even get married, but it wouldn’t last. But it’s a little bit like Ron and Hermione, they’ve just been through so much together that after a while it becomes impossible to share a life with someone else. And I think that’s kind of epic, by my commitment standards.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Check previous Doctor answer. I just love those two together and I can’t wait to see how this particular Doctor/Companion relationship is going to be, because that’s something I’m always looking forward in this show. And Moffat, I’m coming for that obligatory companion kiss. And that scene with River made me wish for more interaction between them.
My unpopular opinion about this character: If Rory Williams were my boyfriend, it probably wouldn’t last a month.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I NEED ROMAN TALK. I dream of knowing everything that happened to him in those 2000 years and I can’t wait for more series 6 episodes so we can see better how this time has affected him.
